"FAMILYNESS, " "FAMILYISH" INSTEAD OF "BROTHERLINESS"

Thanks to my sister Eta. She helped me see (OUCH!) that my language tends to be exclusionary - "Father," "Brotherliness...."

With her comments my soul went to work and presented me with "Familyness," and "Familyish" are far better descriptors than I've had before.

MILITANT FAMILINESS is:
  • What Jesus died to bring us,
  • The only hope for peace,
  • The only hope for the world.

EVIL = DISCONNECTEDNESS. EVERYTHING ELSE IS SYMPTOMS.

There is no more important post on this site.

It is said that "Money" is the root of all evil...

The exact purpose of money
is DISCONNECTION.
[Money is so you need no connection to me,
and I need no conection to you.]

EVIL = DISCONNECTEDNESS.
The ROOT of all evil is
DISCONNECTEDNESS.
EVERYTHING ELSE,
All SELFISHNESS
IS SYMPTOMS.

CONNECTEDNESS:
YOUR PAIN IS MY PAIN.
YOUR JOY IS MY JOY.

TO KILL THE BEAST (DISCONNECTION) - OFFER IT ENOUGH INNOCENT BLOOD

Hmmmmm.

I think this is the TRUTH.

TO KILL THE BEAST
(DISCONNECTION) -
OFFER IT
ENOUGH
INNOCENT BLOOD.
.
"Suffering, the nonviolent resister realizes, has tremendous educational and transforming possibilities," King wrote, quoting Gandhi that "Things of fundamental importance to people are not secured by reason alone, but have to be purchased with their suffering. Suffering is infinitely more powerful than the law of the jungle for converting the opponent and opening his ears which are otherwise shut to the voice of reason."

Eleanor Roosevelt Quotes

1.A little simplification would be the first step toward rational living, I think.
2.You must do the things you think you cannot do.
3.You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give.
4.You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.'

5.You can't move so fast that you try to change the mores faster than people can accept it. That doesn't mean you do nothing, but it means that you do the things that need to be done according to priority.
6.You can never really live anyone else's life, not even your child's. The influence you exert is through your own life, and what you've become yourself.
7.Women are like teabags. We don't know our true strength until we are in hot water!
8.With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts.
9.When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die.
10.When will our consciences grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it?
11.When life is too easy for us, we must beware or we may not be ready to meet the blows which sooner or later come to everyone, rich or poor.
12.When all is said and done, and statesmen discuss the future of the world, the fact remains that people fight these wars.
13.What you don't do can be a destructive force.

14.What one has to do usually can be done.
15.What is to give light must endure the burning.
16.We have to face the fact that either all of us are going to die together or we are going to learn to live together and if we are to live together we have to talk.
17.We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.
18.We are afraid to care too much, for fear that the other person does not care at all.
19.Understanding is a two-way street.
20.Too often the great decisions are originated and given form in bodies made up wholly of men, or so completely dominated by them that whatever of special value women have to offer is shunted aside without expression.
21.There are practical little things in housekeeping which no man really understands.
22.The only things one can admire at length are those one admires without knowing why.
23.The only advantage of not being too good a housekeeper is that your guests are so pleased to feel how very much better they are.
24.The giving of love is an education in itself.
25.The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. 26.The Bible illustrated by Dore occupied many of my hours - and I think probably gave me many nightmares.
27.The battle for the individual rights of women is one of long standing and none of us should countenance anything which undermines it.
28.Sometimes I wonder if we shall ever grow up in our politics and say definite things which mean something, or whether we shall always go on using generalities to which everyone can subscribe, and which mean very little.
29.Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.
30.Remember always that you not only have the right to be an individual, you have an obligation to be one.

31.Probably the happiest period in life most frequently is in middle age, when the eager passions of youth are cooled, and the infirmities of age not yet begun; as we see that the shadows, which are at morning and evening so large, almost entirely disappear at midday.
32.Perhaps nature is our best assurance of immortality.
33.People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built.
34.Only a man's character is the real criterion of worth.
35.One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes... and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.

36.Old age has deformities enough of its own. It should never add to them the deformity of vice.
37.No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
38.Never allow a person to tell you no who doesn't have the power to say yes.
39.My experience has been that work is almost the best way to pull oneself out of the depths.
40.Life must be lived and curiosity kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life.

46.It is not more vacation we need - it is more vocation.
47.It is not fair to ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself.
48.It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself.
49.It is better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.

65.Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.
66.Friendship with oneself is all important because without it one cannot be friends with anybody else in the world.
67.Friendship with ones self is all important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.
68.Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry is own weight, this is a frightening prospect.
69.For it isn't enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn't enough to believe in it. One must work at it.
70.Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

72.Autobiographies are only useful as the lives you read about and analyze may suggest to you something that you may find useful in your own journey through life.
73.As for accomplishments, I just did what I had to do as things came along.
74.Anyone who thinks must think of the next war as they would of suicide.
75.Anyone who knows history, particularly the history of Europe, will, I think, recognize that the domination of education or of government by any one particular religious faith is never a happy arrangement for the people.

Desmond Tutu Quotes

A person is a person because he recognizes others as persons.

Be nice to the whites, they need you to rediscover their humanity.

Be nice to whites, they need you to rediscover their humanity.

Children are a wonderful gift. They have an extraordinary capacity to see into the heart of things and to expose sham and humbug for what they are.

Do your little bit of good where you are; its those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.

For goodness sake, will they hear, will white people hear what we are trying to say? Please, all we are asking you to do is to recognize that we are humans, too.

I am a leader by default, only because nature does not allow a vacuum.

I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights.

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

In the land of my birth I cannot vote, whereas a young person of eighteen can vote. And why? Because he or she possesses that wonderful biological attribute - a white skin.

My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.

Those who invest in South Africa should not think they are doing us a favor; they are here for what they get out of our cheap and abundant labor, and they should know that they are buttressing one of the most vicious systems.

We may be surprised at the people we find in heaven. God has a soft spot for sinners. His standards are quite low.

We would like to see you departing peacefully.

What is black empowerment when it seems to benefit not the vast majority but an elite that tends to be recycled?

When a pile of cups is tottering on the edge of the table and you warn that they will crash to the ground, in South Africa you are blamed when that happens.

When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said "Let us pray." We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land.

Without forgiveness, there's no future.

You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.

You must show the world that you abhor fighting.

Nelson Mandela Quotes

A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination.

After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Communists have always played an active role in the fight by colonial countries for their freedom, because the short-term objects of Communism would always correspond with the long-term objects of freedom movements.

Does anybody really think that they didn't get what they had because they didn't have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment?

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

I cannot conceive of Israel withdrawing if Arab states do not recognize Israel, within secure borders.

I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself.

I dream of the realization of the unity of Africa, whereby its leaders combine in their efforts to solve the problems of this continent. I dream of our vast deserts, of our forests, of all our great wildernesses.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which it treats its children.

There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires.

There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.

There is no such thing as part freedom.

There is nothing like returning to a place that reminds unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.

We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.

When the water starts boiling it is foolish to turn off the heat.

LIVING AS THOUGH THERE IS "OUR FATHER" - INDISPENSABLE.

Is there a "God?"
NO MATTER.

Living as though there is
one, loving Father/Mother/Power of us all is
INDISPENSABLE.

This is no more "religious"
than is MATH!
Both are indispensable constructs.

Online Quotations of Dr. King

THE ONLY 2 SIDES: WORLD FAMILY; AND "NOT"

Looking at the US for example on the "WE ARE NOT ALL WORLD FAMILY" side are:
  • Democrats
  • Republicans
  • Labor
  • Management
  • Industry
  • "Family values"
  • Media
  • "Church" behaviors and sanctions
  • Defense
  • "Peace" movement....

On the "WE ARE ALL WORLD FAMILY" side are:

JESUS IS TAKING START AT THE "CELLULAR" LEVEL

Well, that is what it seems like in my life for many, many, many months now. Not much of my spirit seems to be free of Him. I don't think He and I have been separate for a long time now.

WE ARE CALLED TO BE FAITHFUL, NOT SUCCESSFUL

All I can say is that I've lived long enough to know that it is absolute Truth. Think about it and you will surprise yourself and agree. It is what all of history's "greats" have lived.

Gandhi said it well:

"I will admit but
one tyrant in my life -
the still small voice within."

Start Loving:

"Our only freedom and
our only responsibility is
making the attempt to serve.
The only possible failure is
failing to attempt."

Douglas MacArthur

  • A better world shall emerge based on faith and understanding.
  • Could I have but a line a century hence crediting a contribution to the advance of peace, I would yield every honor which has been accorded by war.
  • I have known war as few men now living know it. It's very destructiveness on both friend and foe has rendered it useless as a means of settling international disputes.
  • It is part of the general pattern of misguided policy that our country is now geared to an arms economy which was bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and nurtured upon an incessant propaganda of fear.
  • Life is a lively process of becoming.
  • No man is enitled to the blessings of freedom unless he be vigilant in its preservation.
  • Only those are fit to live who are not afraid to die.
  • Our country is now geared to an arms economy bred in an artificially induced psychosis of war hysteria and an incessant propaganda of fear.
  • Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of fear - kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor - with the cry of grave national emergency.
  • The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.
  • The world is in a constant conspiracy against the brave. It's the age-old struggle: the roar of the crowd on the one side, and the voice of your conscience on the other.
  • We are not retreating - we are advancing in another direction.
  • Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
  • You are remembered for the rules you break.
  • Age wrinkles the body. Quitting wrinkles the soul.
  • I am concerned for the security of our great Nation; not so much because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within.
  • Last, but by no means least, courage - moral courage, the courage of one's convictions, the courage to see things through. The world ;is in a constant conspiracy against the brave. It's the age-old struggle - the roar of the crowd on one side and the voice of your; conscience on the other.
  • The best luck of all is the luck you make for yourself.
  • Whether in chains or in laurels, liberty knows nothing but victories.
Always there has been some terrible evil at home or some monstrous foreign power that was going to gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it.
  • Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.
  • The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war.
  • There is no security on this earth; there is only opportunity.
  • One cannot wage war under present conditions without the support of public opinion, which is tremendously molded by the press and other forms of propaganda.
  • Americans never quit.

THE KEY IS KNOWING JOY VS PLEASURE

Joy is the chemical cocktail produced when the nervous system thinks you are helping "humanity."

Pleasure is the cocktail produced when the nervous system thinks you are helping yourself / "immediate family."

Joy trumps pleasure. That is why firemen rushed in on 911.

THE TIME YOU SPEND IS WHAT IT IS WORTH

How much time do you spend on world hunger? That is what ending it is worth to you.

How much time do you spend on those beyond your "family?" That is what these non-"family" are worth to you.

LUKE AWAKENS DARTH AS THOUGH FROM HYPNOSIS

Awakening from hypnosis is central to Tolstoy's thinking, the thinking that created Gandhi.

I think Tolstoy is correct that what we see Luke do one on one with Darth is what must and can happen to mass awaken we sociopathic entranced, homicidally neglectful masses.

Across the street from Hooters at noon an elementary school roof collapses trapping children. The bar empties and heroes go to work, right?

Mass - awakening as though from a trance.

YOUR HEART STOPPING HELPS WHEN?

Your heart can help by stopping, when?
  • Well, I mean, the heart has feeling's too right?
  • It gets tired. It wants a vacation.
  • And what if other organs start to go on "vacation?"
  • OK to stop beating if the kidneys fail? That seems fair.
  • How about if it stops beating when your eyes start to fail? That seems reasonable.

You, as a "cell,"
an "organ" in the the
body of humanity,
when in this world
where 6 billion suffer,
when can you help
by stopping 7/24,
HEROIC service?

PURITY (think uranium and bombs)

What is true to nuclear bombs is true for transforming love. Purity counts.

Uranium is of no power until it is centrifuged by 1000's of centrifuges to an extreme level of purity.

Love / Kindness / Brotherliness
is of little impact until it reaches an extreme purity - MILITANCE.

IMAGINE WE'VE BEEN TAUGHT THE WRONG LIFE! WE HAVE.

Hmmm.

How old are you? I'm mid 50's. Imagine for all those years, ALL THOSE YEARS, I've been taught the wrong life.
  • How much would I have to unlearn?
  • How "wrong" would appear the TRUE life?
  • How much would I wish to deny this new truth, and all the work it represents?
  • How frightening / threatening if EVERYONE ELSE was taught the wrong life, and sees not the truth?!?!?!

Time to get on with it.

CHOOSE: LIVE FOR THE FINITE, OR INFINITE. REALLY.

Gandhi's, King's lives tipped me off to this. GANDHI'S FAITH: MILITANT KINDNESS CAN'T LOSE IN THE LONG RUN.

So, what will it be?

Will you live for short term stuff?

Will you live for
and build toward
the eternity of humankind?

Think about it.

GANDHI'S FAITH: MILITANT KINDNESS CAN'T LOSE IN THE END

Gandhi saw that Kindness (nonviolence, or militant kindness by whatever name), will unavoidably succeed in the long term. It cannot fail.

The Almighty ,
kindness cannot fail.
This is PHYSICS,
not metaphysics.

!!!!! "FAITH" !!!!!

Oh my. How Divine. I'm spending days with Oscar Romero's book, "The Violence of Love." !!! IT IS FREE ONLINE !!!!!

And so far the 10 hours or so is just massaging it technically so I can listen when next week I take up the vigil again here in DC.

But I've just noticed a passage that leaves me breathless with its profound encompassing of practically all that I'm learning and valuing:

"Faith is what a child has
when its father puts out his hands
and says, “Jump!”
and the child leaps into space
with the assurance that its fathers hands
won’t let it fall.
This is faith.
It’s what Christ says,
“Those who believe in me
will not be condemned.
Those who surrender,
those who don’t distrust,
who even in the hardest times
believe and hope,
will not be condemned.
But those who don’t believe,
those who won’t leap into Christ’s arms
because they are more anchored
to their earthly things,
those who don’t believe,
those who don’t trust In God,
those who don’t believe
God goes with our history
and is going to save us
are already condemned.

Their life is already a hell..."
Oscar Romero

.

...As Hell is the life of
the neglected members
of their 'family.'

A "RIGHT" = THAT WHICH IS "RIGHT"

Oh my. This is a big breakthu for me.

I've most of my life been unhappy with what I have understood by the word "right," as in - it is your right, or, it is her right....

Profoundly hollow this strikes me. Profoundly disempowering. Loveless. Lifeless this notion of "Right."

Well, something with huge Life, Love and Joy crossed my mind:

A "RIGHT" = THAT WHICH IS "RIGHT"
  • It is right that children have food
  • It is right that everyone has love
  • It is right that everything be shared

A "WRONG" = THAT WHICH IS "WRONG"

  • Superfluities are wrong when children starve
  • Private ownership of a world God gave us is wrong
  • Showering blessings on a few "family" while most "family" has nothing is wrong

According to whom? :-) According to Conscience / the Almighty within us.

PRACTICE AND SPECTATING ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE

I'm thinking of the abomination called "Church."

PRACTICE AND SPECTATING
ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
ONE ANNIHILATES THE OTHER.

CONSTRUCTIVE LEADERSHIP IS THE FOCUSING OF ENERGY

CONSTRUCTIVE LEADERSHIP IS
QUANTUM LIBERATION AND
FOCUSING OF ENERGY
I've known this and profited from the knowledge for decades.
We all, WE ALL focus the energy of others.
Where are you focusing others?

PEACEMAKING: AS MUCH WORK AS GROWING A CHILD

Who in the so called "Peace" movement lives this?

1 in 10,000.

Paraphrasing Dr. King, 'People cry "peace," but they do not do what is required for peace.'

!!!!!!! NO DOUBLE STANDARDS !!!!!!!

If there is one single key to Truth / Life / Love / Nirvana / Heaven / World Family, I think this is it:
NO DOUBLE STANDARDS
NO DOUBLE STANDARDS

NO DOUBLE STANDARDS
NO DOUBLE STANDARDS

As you love yourself,
love others

As you love your dearest,
love everyone

As you house yourself,
house everyone

As you secure dearest,
secure everyone

TO SERVE IS TO BECOME

Think of your:
  • Heart
  • Liver
  • Lungs
  • Brain
  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Skin cells...

When you were in the womb, early on they did NOT serve you. But then THEY BECAME.

TO SERVE IS TO BECOME

WE MUST BECOME.
EVERYTHING DEPENDS ON IT.

BE THE ALMIGHTY INCARNATE

I'm getting brief flashes of this.

When does a glass stop being a glass? When it is full of water.

When does a person stop being a person, when they are full of Love / Life / Truth.

It makes no sense. But we've all sensed it, if only through a haze.

BE THE ALMIGHTY INCARNATE

Sounds grandiose.
It is the height of humility -
surrender, complete surrender
to the Almighty -
Love / Life / Truth.
There is no greater power
that one can be the servant of,
the vessel of.

BRING THE ALMIGHTY TO BEAR

Ok, so what is it you want to see achieved?

If what you have in mind is otherish then learn to:

FEAR, SELFISHNESS DISPLACE, "KILL" THE ALMIGHTY

Fear and selfishness drive out the Almighty from us.

Fear and selfishness are Sin / Error.

Fear and selfishenss destroy Life / Love / Truth.

GOD IS KINDNESS. PERIOD. YES?

I know I've described God / the Almighty differently in many other posts.

GOD IS KINDNESS.

PERIOD. YES?

!!!!! SUFFERING FOR JOY !!!!!!

Well,

that's how it is. Staring me right in the face but only now do the words come together:

!!!!!! SUFFERING FOR JOY !!!!!!

Suffering for Joy is why we:
  • Bear children
  • Raise children
  • Nurse loved ones through trial and sickness....
JOY'S THE REWARD FOR SUFFERING FOR LOVE!

JOY'S THE REWARD FOR SUFFERING FOR LOVE

Think being Kind.

Think great parenting.

Think responding to a neighbor's emergency.

How do you know "good art?"

You do of course. And scholarly studies indicate that this is a trans human, trans global phenomenon.

How? You are wired for it. You are wired for it just as you are wired to see, hear, taste, walk....

How do you know what is right and wrong?

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS
THE WILL OF THE ALMIGHTY?

HEROES ARE THE ONLY HEALTHY AMONG US

Picture an American Indian tribe of the 1500's. An emergency befalls the tribe. How many would NOT behave heroically? None?

Why? Because, unlike we, had not lost their connection to the "others."

There are groups now, and always have been where the simplest, most normal people are HEROES.

Think "Forrest Gump."

BEING LESS THAN A HERO IS ILLNESS

Think American Children; being less than robust is illness - an unnatural state for the species Human:

Think Darfurie Children:

HARVESTING IS EASY. GROWING IS HARD.

Hmmm. I'll need your help, much imagination on this post because real clear examples are not coming to my mind.

I'd rather be a Steve Beko than an Nelson Mandella.

I'd rather be the soldiers of "Glory" than Martin Luther King.

I'd rather be young Gandhi in South Africa than old Gandhi in India.

Dr. King said, and I paraphrase, 'Well, don't think I am instrumental to the advances in rights that we are seeing. The time is right for them. I just happen to be here."

The time is right because of the efforts of unknown, unnamed, unheralded "growers" 5, 10, 50 years earlier.

King, an incredible Saint, was there to harvest their decades and centuries of "growing."

I want to be a "grower."
